A phobia is an irrational, overwhelming and intense fear of an object, animal, place, situation or noise. The most common phobias are spiders, dogs, needles, flying, snakes, dentists and heights, but it can be almost anything. You knows it is irrational but you cannot help your response. ​ Your brain is simply keeping you safe, it may of originally been triggered by a simple event in your childhood, but each time you run away or freeze and nothing happens to you, your brain says “Great, well done, I protected you. we know what we need to do to from now on.” The only thing is that each time you do this, your fear is reinforced. ​
